THE ANNUAL SPIRITUAL PILGRIMAGE TO THE
SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF WALSINGHAM

Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction

Those who visit Walsingham in England for a weekend pilgrimage end their celebration with a Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.

When we are dismissed from Mass, or when we go home from a pilgrimage, we are to go as missionaries to "make disciples of all nations".

But the Incarnate God, the child of Mary, whom we encounter on this Pilgrimage, is not left behind when we go home.

Rather, it is He who goes before us to our homes and parishes and places of work.

And so it is that in the procession of the Blessed Sacrament, the pilgrims follow the Sacrament. In all of our work as Christians we never enter any place without Christ already being there.

Returning to the Church, the pilgrims receive God's blessing, his benediction, through the Blessed Sacrament.

Pilgrims then remain in the Church for the Last Visit.
